Mexico is the country that coined the term ‘marijuana’ and so it’s to be expected that some truly wonderful varieties of cannabis find their home here. Many of these strains are rarely seen outside of the county’s borders, which gives them an added sense of curiosity and intrigue that’s lapped up my cannabis lovers the world over.
Mexican Sativa’s main parent and ancestor is a prized specimen from the southern province of Oaxaca. In order to adapt this exotic sativa for flowering in the northern summer, the breeders infused it with genes from Durban - the famously hardy African sativa - as well as a fast-flowering Pakistani hash plant. The best seed offspring were then back-crossed to the Oaxacan line to maintain the distinctive qualities of the original strain. It’s a complicated process buy, boy, is it worth it!
